HQ Review: Melissa Miller presents process-driven performance, The Walleye Project

The Walleye Project, named after Miller’s grandmother in order to “conjure her spirit,” whom she described as curious and openminded, was exactly that. It was the inaugural project for Walleye, which hopes to become a performing arts collective dedicated to experimental work at the intersection of dance, theater and visual art. It was clearly grounded in immediacy, which feels increasingly important as our attention grows more distracted, but it also got to the root of something I feel I want to see more of: a willingness to reveal the uncertainty of experimentation, and an invitation for all to play.
